The Philadelphia 76ers are getting set to take on the Detroit Pistons on Monday looking for their fourth straight win and another two-game sweep. They will have to do so without their star big man and the Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
Joel Embiid will miss Monday’s game in Detroit with back tightness after being questionable leading into the game. The star big man admitted after Friday’s win over the Boston Celtics that he was sore and he was also dealing with some lingering effects in Saturday’s win over the Pistons.
The assumption is that Dwight Howard will get the start as he has in the other instances when Embiid missed a game.

With the Sixers still missing Vincent Poirier who is still in the league’s health and safety protocols, the team will have to turn to Tony Bradley to be the backup to Howard. The Sixers do face the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday at home and it is more important to have Embiid back for that game against the defending champs.
