As the Philadelphia 76ers prepare for a big matchup with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday looking to bounce back from a loss at home to the Denver Nuggets on Monday, they might have to do so without the services of their star big man.
Joel Embiid, after coach Doc Rivers said he expects him to play, is now questionable against the Cavaliers due to back soreness. The big fella did admit to fighting fatigue in the aftermath of the loss to Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on Monday so maybe this would be a game worth resting him a bit. The Cavs are also missing big man Jarrett Allen so it isn’t like Philadelphia will be battling against an All-Star big man or anything.

It remains to be seen if Embiid will give it a go against the Cavs, but if they really want to contend for a championship in June, they will need him to be at his absolute best in terms of his body. The Sixers will have to continue to keep growing as a team and they will be relying on the big fella to lead the way.
