Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid has been playing at an extremely high level in order to help the team move forward in the standings and get the team into a good position in order to get home-court advantage in the playoffs.
He played 14 games in the month of January and he averaged a robust 34.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 5.1 assists as the Sixers made the climb up to the No. 2 seed heading into February. He also shot 54.2% from the floor and 30.4% from deep as he threw the Sixers on his back plenty of times.
For his efforts, Embiid has been named the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for January. After winning the award for December, he is the first Sixer to win the award in consecutive months and he also joins Allen Iverson as the only players in franchise history to capture the award at least four times.
