Sixers assistant coach Ime Udoka now front runner for Bulls’ head job

The Chicago Bulls are zeroing in on Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Ime Udoka for their head spot.

The Chicago Bulls may be undergoing some big changes with the head seat on their bench. After yet another disappointing season in Chicago after their season officially came to an end, they are considering a change at the head coach position.

Coach Jim Boylen has not had much success in the Windy City and new front office executive Arturas Karnisovas is highly considering moving on from him. One name that has continued to pop up is Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach Ime Udoka.

Udoka was already one of the names being considered by Chicago, but it now appears that he is the front runner for the position. According to Joe Crowley of the Chicago Sun-Times:

Sources have told the Sun-Times that 76ers assistant Ime Udoka is the front-runner to become the Bulls’ new coach, with Raptors assistant — and former Bulls assistant — Adrian Griffin also in the picture.

Chicago has already dipped into Philadelphia’s system and hired away former assistant general manager Marc Eversley to be their new general manager so now they are zeroing in Udoka to be their next coach. It would be a nice pickup for the Bulls as he has a ton of experience under Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs and now he has this year with Philadelphia so far.

He has the potential to be a very good head coach and developer of the young talent Chicago possesses. [lawrence-related id=32670,32660,32627]
