Sixers acquire 53rd pick in 2021 draft from Pelicans for cash considerations

The Philadelphia 76ers have acquired the 53rd pick in the draft from the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Philadelphia 76ers have made their move. Although it is not quite the move that and had in mind, they did make a trade nonetheless.

The Sixers have acquired another asset before Thursday’s 2021 NBA draft and it is a move that could help them in the future. They have acquired the 53rd pick in the draft from the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for cash considerations.

While the move does not exactly get everybody excited, the 53rd pick is an asset that could help the Sixers in the future. Philadelphia needs everything they can in order to entice other teams to make moves with them. For example, the Sixers could flip this pick to another team in order to add a win-now type of player.

A source familiar with the trade tells Sixers Wire that managing partner Josh Harris has committed the resources necessary to strengthening the team which is reflected by Daryl Morey having the ability to go out and acquire another second-round pick for cash.

This is a move that the Sixers can take with them into draft night and be armed with another asset to throw into any possible deal to help improve the roster. Maybe they can contact a rebuilding team and see what it would take to get one of their veteran players to help them on their title quest. Terrence Ross of the Orlando Magic comes to mind as he would be a big help off the bench.
