The Philadelphia 76ers embark on a three-game road trip beginning on Sunday with the San Antonio Spurs, but there is some fun in looking ahead to the offseason and seeing who can be added to the current roster.
One of the more exciting activities is looking at mock drafts and seeing what the team can do with their late pick in the first round. Philadelphia’s pick will be determined at a later date for the July 29 draft.
In a mock draft performed by CBS Sports, the Sixers select Villanova forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl with the pick.
Robinson-Earl was the leading scorer and rebounder for a Villanova team that won the Big East by multiple games. He’s not the best athlete, but his understanding of how to play, and his ability to be a pick-and-pop 4, should serve him well at the next level.
The Sixers are relying on aging veterans Mike Scott and Anthony Tolliver as backup big men off their bench, but Robinson-Earl would give the team some youth at the position. He is not the shooting threat Scott and Tolliver are. He only shot 28% as a sophomore at Villanova, but he has a high basketball IQ, and playing under Doc Rivers would help him develop his game.
