Sixers 2020 NBA mock draft: Tyrese Maxey can fix plenty of issues

A new mock draft for the Philadelphia 76ers has them selecting Kentucky guard Tyrese Maxey.

As the Philadephia 76ers head into an important offseason, there are some issues on the team that need to be fixed. One of those issues can be fixed in the upcoming NBA Draft as they were able to stumble into the first-round pick thanks to the success of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The popular mock draft picks for Philadelphia have been Stanford’s Tyrell Terry as well as French guard Theo Maledon, but a new name has been brought up for them at 21.

A mock draft done by the Detroit Free Press has Philadelphia selecting Kentucky guard Tyrese Maxey at 21 overall. He is a guy who offers a lot of versatility and he can be a physical scorer who can get to the basket and he is regarded as a top perimeter defender.

The Free Press on the pick:

Can fill multiple roles as a ball-handler, scorer and defender. Wasn’t a strong shooter as a freshman, but has the tools to become one.

Maxey played 31 games this season for the Wildcats and he averaged 14.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists. He did show off an ability to get the foul line frequently as he attempted 3.9 per game and he has a smooth stroke that could eventually be turned into a good shooter in the NBA. If the Sixers were to keep Ben Simmons off the ball, then Maxey could be the new ball-handler to initiate the offense. [lawrence-related id=38275,38272,38269]
