Sixers 2020 free agency: Jeff Teague would fit both roster and price range

Jeff Teague would be a solid option for the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2020 free agency market.

The Philadelphia 76ers will be entering an interesting free agent period whenever that opens up for 2020. Every team will be affected greatly by the current pandemic that hit the league hard financially and it will affect free agency in a big way.

The Sixers did not have much cap space, to begin with, but there are some free agents in this class that will help the team on the floor and not hurt their wallet too much either.

One of those free agents is Jeff Teague who is coming off a season playing for both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Atlanta Hawks. He averaged 10.9 points and 5.2 assists while shooting 36.8% from deep in a bench role for both teams and he is a guy who will not cost too much money for Philadelphia who only has about $6 million to spend.

Bleacher Report broke it down this way for Teague and the Sixers:

The Sixers have a lot of needs to fill this offseason, but getting another ball-handler should be at the top of the list.

In 17 starts this season, Teague averaged 12.5 points and 7.5 assists while shooting 37.8 from three. If Philly wants to keep Ben Simmons at power forward, Teague is still good enough to start at point guard and shouldn’t command a huge salary to do so.

The Sixers have a lot of needs, but they are easily identifiable. They need players who can shoot the ball from deep and they also need guys who can put the ball on the floor and create. Teague fits both of those needs and he will not be demanding a big contract. He has been in the league for 11 seasons now, he was an All-Star in 2015, and he has made his money. He would most likely want to chase a championship now. [lawrence-related id=38703,38704,38693]
