The free agency period in the NBA is fast approaching as the league continues to scramble and get ready for the 2020-21 season. With the NBA draft set for November 18, free agency is set to begin shortly thereafter which means it is time to really prepare and get to work.
The Philadelphia 76ers will have to go bargain shopping for what they need in order to improve the roster. They will only have roughly $6 million to spend on the market and they will need to find cheap options in order to improve the roster and find the shooting they need to help the team.
A guy who should come cheap is E’Twaun Moore who has built a reputation of being a 3-and-D option in the league. Moore had a bit of a down year for the New Orleans Pelicans averaging 8.8 points and shooting 37.7% from deep after shooting it at a 43.2% clip the season before.
The Atheltic’s John Hollinger had this to say about Moore and his free agency prospects:
Teams looking for cheap shooting could do a lot worse than this guy. He got lost in a jumbled New Orleans guard rotation and finished with a mere 51.0 TS% — no bueno for a floor spacer. Certainly, at 31 his best days are behind him. Nonetheless, he’s a pretty good defender for a floor spacer, and even last season he knocked down 37.7 percent from 3. Moore also has a pretty wicked floater game when he’s rolling, though the rest of his off-the-dribble package is quite limited.
The Sixers would not be asking Moore to do too much. His purpose would be to provide as much space as possible so Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid can operate. Due to the lackluster 2019-20 season, his contract should come pretty cheap for Philadelphia. On top of that, he will get ample opportunity with the Sixers to provide something off the bench. There were too many guards in New Orleans and he will not have the same issues with Philadelphia.[lawrence-related id=39002,38999,38996]
