Seven Raiders finish in top ten in Pro Bowl voting, none tops at their position

Pro Bowl fan voting is over. And while it’s not the only criteria by which they decide who is named to the Pro Bowl, it is a factor. It’s a good thing it’s not the only criteria too, or else the Raiders would be shut out.

They didn’t have a single player top the vote counts this season. Though one player came close. And you can probably guess who that is.

In total, the Raiders had seven players who finished in the top ten in voting at their respective positions.

TE Darren Waller – 2nd
RB Josh Jacobs – 4th
C Rodney Hudson  – 5th
K Daniel Carlson – 6th
SS Johnathan Abram – 7th
FB Alec Ingold – 9th

As you might expect, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce finished ahead of Waller at tight end.

Titans RB Derrick Henry, Vikings RB Dalvin Cook, and Saints RB Alvin Kamara finished ahead of Jacobs at running back. That makes Jacobs the second-leading vote-getter in the AFC.

How in the world four centers finished ahead of Rodney Hudson is quite a mystery. Those centers are Patriots C David Andrews, Steelers C Maurkice Pouncey, Vikings C Garrett Bradbury, and Eagles C Jason Kelce. Making Hudson the third-leading vote-getter in the AFC. We’ll see if the NFL players and coaches see it the same way.

The 2021 Pro Bowl rosters will be revealed live tonight at 4 pm Pacific (7 p.m. ET) on the NFL Network.

Roster selections are determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 88 All-Star players.

This year there will be no actual game played. It was previously supposed to be played at Allegiant Stadium this year, but due to the pandemic, they went virtual instead.
