A six pack of draft prospects for Packers fans to watch during Week 2 of the college football season.

The second week of the college football season is here. This week’s slate of games includes two Top 25 matchups, highlighted by No. 3 Alabama taking on No. 11 Texas. Let’s take a look at six prospects that Green Bay Packers fans should be keeping tabs on throughout the day.

Jahdae Barron, DB, Texas

Barron is one of the best slot cornerbacks in college football. Barron logged 382 snaps in the slot last season and recorded 78 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, one sack, and two interceptions. Last week against Rice, Barron logged just 14 snaps and recorded two tackles. Barron is a highly instinctive player with great field awareness. He’s ultra-competitive and always around the action. 

Malachi Moore, DB, Alabama

All signs point to Moore playing against Texas after he suffered an injury in the season opener against Middle Tennessee State. Moore is a versatile defensive back who mans the Star position for Nick Saban. However, he can line up on the boundary or deep. The versatile defensive back enjoys getting busy downhill. His short-area quickness and football IQ help him be effective in coverage. Moore and the Crimson Tide secondary will be tested by the talented Texas wide receiver room. 

Tyler Guyton, OT, Oklahoma

The first round of the 2024 NFL Draft is 229 days away and it’s somewhat outrageous to talk about dark horse candidates to be selected by the Packers in the first round. However, Guton checks all the boxes with his athleticism and frame. The high school defensive lineman played h-back at TCU prior to transferring to Oklahoma last season. During his time at TCU he hauled in a six-yard touchdown pass.

After starting five games last season, Guyton is entrenched as the team’s full-time starting right tackle. During Oklahoma’s season-opener last week, Guyton gave up zero sacks and zero pressures. 

Javon Foster, OT, Missouri

Foster has started games at both left and right tackle during his time at Missouri, including 27 straight starts at left tackle. Last week against USD, Foster yielded zero sacks and zero pressures. Foster is a well-built tackle with ideal length. He’s able to anchor down against power and has good movement skills.

Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon

What will the Oregon Ducks offense do for an encore against Texas Tech, after scoring 81 points against Portland State? Franklin hauled in seven receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns last week and figures to see plenty of targets come his way today against the Red Raiders. He’s caught at least one pass in 18 straight games and has scored a touchdown in five straight games. The Oregon wide receiver is shifty and puts a lot of stress on defenses with his quicks. 

Demani Richardson, S, Texas A&M

Richardson is one of the most seasoned safety prospects in college football. He enters Saturday’s matchup against Miami with 248 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and four interceptions to his name. The Aggie safety is well-built and capable of filling multiple roles in the secondary.
