Recruitment

Michigan identified McGregor early, and made a strong push as he suddenly found himself rising through the rankings. As he made a strong impression, other big schools were in pursuit, such as Florida, Notre Dame, Alabama and LSU.

However, on May 24, the in-state product surprised many picking Michigan over Notre Dame. There was no noise coming from either camp, but the Fighting Irish felt confident as people close to Michigan acted as if they had no idea — though he verbally committed a week before his announcement.

Though a borderline five-star at the time of his commitment, he dropped in the rankings, especially because he wasn’t able to put much on film his senior year, as he suffered a season-ending injury early on.

Readiness Level

Pending his ACL recovery, should be a candidate to burn his redshirt in year one. Likely to be a starter in either year two or three.
