Monday marked the final official spring practice for the Washington Huskies, who will hold a walkthrough on Wednesday ahead of Friday’s spring game. As coach Jedd Fisch has continued to turn Washington football practices into a destination, Dempsey Indoor Center housed one of the 10 wealthiest people in the world.
Flanked by former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, Los Angeles Clippers owner and former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer took in the opening portion of practice after addressing the team earlier in the day.
True freshman Demond Williams has been one of the biggest stories of spring camp and continued to impress on Monday, throwing multiple touchdown passes during team periods. He found his classmate, running back Adam Mohammed on a five-yard swing pass during the first scrimmage period of the day.
Williams also found walk-on tight end Owen Coutts who slipped up the seam during a 7-on-7 drill for a 40-yard score.
Cornerback Thaddeus Dixon has been quietly having a very nice spring and made a few strong plays on Monday as he has found a comfortable role for himself in defensive coordinator Steve Belichick’s scheme.

Spring Practice Notebook
- Linebackers coach Robert Bala met with the media after practice and singled out true freshman Khmori House as someone who has stood out to him. “He’s done a really good job of understanding what we ask him to do, either fundamentally, technically, schematically, especially for someone who should be in high school right now,” Bala said. “He’s been a bright spot for us this spring, and I think he’s going to have an opportunity to get on the field a lot early in his career.”
- As the deadline to enter the transfer portal looms, the coaching staff is still looking for plenty of pieces to add to the roster. By my count, there are 71 scholarship players, with room for 1 quarterback, 1 running back, 1 wide receiver, 1 tight end, 3 offensive linemen, 2 defensive linemen, 1 cornerback, and 1 safety. That leaves UW at 84 scholarship players (counting transfer portal additions OL D’Angalo Titialii and DL Logan Sagapolu) and would be a massive improvement over where the roster is right now.
- Wide receiver Denzel Boston’s strong spring continued, as he hauled in a 5-yard touchdown from quarterback Will Rogers in early scrimmage snaps and held onto a tough catch over the middle of the field with cornerback Elijah Jackson on his back.
