There’s been no better example of how much a great position coach can help a team than to look at the work Mike Munchak did with the Pittsburgh Steelers as their offensive line coach. Munchak has been out of coaching for a year now but it sounds like he is ready to get back into it and we have to wonder if the Steelers should be interested.
Munchak talked about it on the Cook and Joe Show and absolutely gushed about Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and said he’s ready to get back into coaching after a one-year absence.
Our first thought was of course the Steelers need to re-hire Munchak as the offensive line coach. But maybe that’s the wrong way to look at this. Current offensive line coach Pat Meyer did a nice job in the second half of last season and is going to be working with a much more talented group this season. Perhaps instead of getting rid of Meyer, Pittsburgh should bring Munchak in as some sort of assistant head coach or offensive consultant instead.
Cast your vote and let us know if you want Munchak back.
