If the 2021 NFL players taught us anything, it’s that this league has some amazing young quarterbacks in it. In particular, the AFC where Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow, Kansas City’s Patrick Mahomes and Buffalo’s Josh Allen showed to be the class of the conference.
These performances also got us thinking about what is to come for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Out it Ben Roethlisberger who can now head off to the Pro Football Hall of Fame but it leaves the Steelers with a massive vacancy at quarterback.
Traditionally the Steelers have been a fairly conservative franchise in terms of roster moves. But the fanbase doesn’t feel ready to absorb six to eight down seasons of mediocrity hoping to steal a playoff place or two.
So what should the Steelers do? There are some elite guys out there who I am sure could be had or a king’s ransom. Players like Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson. Do the Steelers have enough talent on the roster that they could forgo a handful of future 1st and/or 2nd round picks for one of these players? The Los Angeles Rams pulled off a huge offseason trade to land quarterback Matt Stafford and now they are playing in the Super Bowl.
