One of the most surprising releases the Pittsburgh Steelers made was that of defensive back Tre Norwood. Norwood, along with tight end Zach Gentry and nose tackle Breiden Fehoko were the guys we were rooting for to make the team but missed the cut.
Fehoko is coming back to the team and we are hopeful the Steelers bring Norwood back as well. Norwood spent much of the preseason dealing with an injury and in the end, it turned into a numbers game. The Steelers kept four safeties and the special teams play of Miles Killebrew kept him safe.
Our ideal scenario for Norwood is for the Steelers to sign him to the practice squad and then stash him away on IR for the year.
Norwood was the Steelers seventh-round pick in 2021 and he played a significant role on defense as a rookie. Norwood moved between slot cornerback and free safety, displaying a knack for finding the football.
