Should the Raiders consider trading for Jets DT Quinnen Williams?

Despite a 45-20 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Raiders are still in the thick of things in the AFC. With the team expected to get back offensive linemen Trent Brown and Richie Incognito in the upcoming weeks, this is still one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL.

However, the defense could use some upgrading if they want to make a serious push for the playoffs. The interior defensive line continues to be a problem as they struggle to stop the run and create any sort of interior pressure.

One player that would be a significant upgrade in the middle of their defense is Quinnen Williams. After being selected at No. 3 in the 2019 NFL Draft, some believe he may be available. According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets are open to moving Williams ahead of the trade deadline.

What the Jets would need in order to move Williams is unclear. Early this season, there were reports that a second-round pick might be enough to acquire him. However, that price feels low and the Jets would likely need more.

Williams hasn’t dominated yet in the NFL, but the flashes are there. He’s improving by the week and would be a fantastic long-term solution inside at three-technique for the Raiders. If Mike Mayock and Jon Gruden offered the Jets multiple Day 2 picks and other trade fillers, it would help address their biggest need without spending an inordinate amount of draft capital or cap space.

Keep an eye on Williams as a potential trade target over the next week. If the Jets are serious about moving him, all the other 31 teams should be interested in the former All-American.
