Should the Nets target sharpshooter JJ Redick?

JJ Redick could be a perfect fit for the Brooklyn Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets have room for a player searching for a veteran’s minimum. In March, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the Nets were in fact one of the favorites to sign current free agent JJ Redick, who happens to live in Brooklyn during his offseason.

Of course, it’s safe to say that interest is still there considering only a couple of months have passed. No place suits the 37-year-old sharpshooter better than the Nets. Not only does it fulfill his championship contending aspirations, but it also puts him closer to his family.

On his podcast, the Old Man and Three, Redick made it clear that he is not going to make his decision anytime soon:

“I feel no rush to make any decision on next season — My focus right now is just hanging with my family and just enjoying the offseason and we’ll make a decision on next season … what team …. what city … probably some time in the next three months. I would say pretty much definitively that I won’t be in training camp to start the season. That’s not going to happen.”

Redick also made it clear he wants to compete for a championship:

“I’ll join a team at some point this season and finish the year and try to go get a chip. That’s the plan.”

There’s only a select amount of teams that we can say are legitimate championship contenders next season. With the Nets already being a great fit for Redick, it is not surprising to see him hint at his next team being a squad capable of winning the whole thing.
