The Buccaneers started the season with a 4-2 record with one win coming over the Detroit Lions. Since that win, those two teams have seemingly been on two vastly different paths. While one team is marching towards a potential Super Bowl berth, the other is almost at the bottom of their division.
For Bucs head coach Todd Bowles, could this be getting him on the hot seat?
Bowles was hand-picked by Bruce Arians when he retired to be the head coach of the Bucs. The move was praised at the time for its structure, but that same structure is proving to be more shaky over time. No infrastructure bill is coming from Washington D.C. to fix it, but one could be coming from Jason Licht’s office.
Could this be a hasty reaction? Perhaps. What is telling, though, is that when a defensive-minded coach has a defense that is ranked 31st in the NFL, something isn’t working. Something has to change whether it is the message or the roster, and Jason Licht isn’t going anywhere, nor should he.
