It’s watch list season for college football’s biggest awards and coming off a record-breaking junior year, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders should hear his name mentioned frequently.
On Monday, Sanders was announced as one of 80 Football Bowl Subdivision players featured on the Maxwell Award watch list. The Maxwell Award has been presented annually to the most outstanding player in college football since 1937.
Fourteen other Big 12 Conference players made the watch list, including fellow quarterbacks Noah Fifita (Arizona), Dequan Finn (Baylor), Jalon Daniels (Kansas), Avery Johnson (Kansas State), KJ Jefferson (UCF), Cam Rising (Utah) and Garrett Greene (West Virginia).
During his first FBS season at Colorado last fall, Sanders threw for 3,230 yards, 27 touchdowns and three interceptions while completing just over 69% of his passes.
Last year, former Washington Huskies star quarterback Michael Penix Jr. took home the award.
