Sheamus is off WWE TV for the best possible reason

Drew McIntyre is also missing WWE’s Europe mini-tour for the same reason.

It’s sometimes difficult to tell when wrestlers are actually injured or it’s just the reason given for them being off TV. Case in point, Sheamus, who WWE says was hurt when he was attacked by the Bloodline following a match with Solo Sikoa on SmackDown.

But Sheamus is fine, and his reason for being written off WWE TV is a much happier one: He’s getting married this weekend, according to PWInsider. It’s the first time tying the knot for the 44-year-old Sheamus, whose fiancée Isabella Revilla revealed that the couple picked up their marriage license in Brooklyn last month.

So while the other Brawling Brutes are in action this Friday night on SmackDown, it’s pretty likely Sheamus will not be there to back them up.

The other WWE star affected by the nuptials is Drew McIntyre, who will serve as Sheamus’ best man. While the two men have thrown down plenty of times in the ring (in banger after banger after banger, as Sheamus might say), they’ve been longtime friends behind the scenes. The timing of the wedding means that McIntyre will also be absent from WWE’s upcoming European house show tour, which includes a stop in his home country of Scotland.

Sheamus isn’t the first WWE wrestler to be written out with a supposed injury to get hitched this year either. At WrestleMania, Charlotte Flair was said to have suffered a broken arm in her I Quit match with Ronda Rousey, but she actually needed time off to get married to AEW’s Andrade El Idolo.

In any case, congratulations to Sheamus and his soon-to-be bride, and if anyone reading is in attendance at the reception, please send pics because that’s bound to be one heck of a celebration.
