Shaquem Griffin hopes he and brother Shaquill will stay in Seattle

Seattle Seahawks linebacker Shaquem Griffin faces an uncertain future but hopes he and his twin brother Shaquill will stay in Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks have numerous impending free agents and they will not be able to keep all of them. Among them are linebacker Shaquem Griffin and his twin brother, cornerback Shaquill.

Shaquem told NBC Sports Northwest that he once again faces an uncertain future and that he cannot control the Seahawks’ desire (or lack thereof) to keep him, but rather his preparation for next season and his resulting performance on the field.

“I don’t know, man,” Griffin said. “The only thing I can do is control what I can control. The only thing I can do is work hard and keep my mind right – keep a positive mindset and know that no matter the situation or where I go, no matter what I do or no matter where I’m playing, is just to put forth the effort. I can control how hard I work. I can’t control the mindset of coaches. I can’t control the business aspect of it.”

Griffin’s memorable and inspiring journey to the NFL has been well-documented and has shown his determination to overcome even the most challenging of obstacles. He has kept this mindset throughout his career, extending to this moment in time.

“If you put me in a situation where I have an opportunity, I’ve got to take full advantage of it,” Griffin continued. “For right now, it’s just me training, getting my body right, staying mentally focused and just being ready for when my number is called – don’t make excuses about it, just go handle business.”

Although he will choose the best opportunity for him in free agency, Griffin expressed hope that he will be able to remain in Seattle with his brother.

“We’ll see how it goes. Time will tell,” Griffin said. “Hopefully I can be there supporting my guys and fighting with my guys.”
