Shaquille O’Neal has been retired from the NBA for nearly 10 years now but the Hall of Famer revealed on Friday that he is still active on the basketball court and beating his competition.

O’Neal said in an interview on the Dan Patrick Show that he last played basketball on Thursday night and defeated his oldest son, Shareef. Shaq teamed up with his youngest son, Shaqir, to play Shareef and the result went in his favor.

“It was me and my youngest son against Shareef and one of his partners,” Shaq said. “I won.”

Shaq has an indoor, full-sized basketball court at his home in Orlando, where he and his family have been staying during the coronavirus pandemic. Shareef has posted a few of his workouts from the gym during the quarantine as he stays active.

On a serious note, Shaq said Shareef is healthy again after undergoing open-heart surgery in December 2018.

“His health is good. He’s ready to go,” Shaq said. “He’s going to my alma mater, LSU. He’s looking to get back on track.”

Shareef announced last month that he would be transferring from UCLA to LSU after he played sparingly with the Bruins. Shaq played with LSU from 1989 to 1992 and has his No. 33 retired by the school.
