Shane van Gisbergen addresses possibility of moving to Cup Series in 2025

Shane van Gisbergen addresses the possibility of moving to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2025. What did van Gisbergen say about the idea?

Shane van Gisbergen will return to the city where he made NASCAR history this weekend. Van Gisbergen will drive the No. 16 Cup car for Kaulig Racing to defend his victory at the Chicago Street Course. In 2023, the Trackhouse Racing driver won NASCAR’s first street course event in his debut. Now, van Gisbergen will look to go back-to-back in 2024.

While van Gibergen runs full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, moving to the Cup Series with Trackhouse Racing is on the table. When Jayski’s Dustin Albino asked about the possibility, van Gisbergen responded bluntly.

“That’s why I moved here,” van Gisbergen said.

The former Supercars Championship driver came to NASCAR and the United States of America to compete at the sport’s top level of racing. While the Xfinity Series has been a tremendous developmental journey, van Gisbergen wants to race in the Cup Series. Trackhouse Racing only has one possible entry available for 2025, and he hopes to be the driver that fills the seat.
