Shakur Stevenson, Oscar Valdez make weight for 130-pound title-unification showdown

Shakur Stevenson and Oscar Valdez made weight on Friday for their 130-pound title-unification showdown Saturday in Las Vegas.

Shakur Stevenson made weight. Barely.

He had to remove every article of clothing he had on but came in at the divisional limit Friday for his junior lightweight title-unification bout with Oscar Valdez on Saturday in Las Vegas (ESPN, ESPN+).

Stevenson (17-0, 9 KOs) evidently weighed slightly over the 130-pound ceiling when he first stepped on the scale. Then, after taking off his shorts behind a screen, he stepped back on and weighed exactly 130.

Valdez (30-0, 23 KOs) came in at 129.6.

The fighters engaged in an obligatory stare down after they were weighed. The moment was intense but uneventful, as it appeared that neither man said a word to the other.
