Seven positives in latest round of COVID-19 testing at Michigan State

All seven positive cases come from student-athletes currently in quarantine.

Seven student-athletes have tested positive for COVID-19 in Michigan State’s latest round of testing.

According to the school 127 student-athletes were tested from July 30-31 with seven positive results. During the same time period 50 staff members were tested with no positives.

All seven student-athletes were already in quarantine at the time of their positives tests. The Michigan State football team has been quarantined since July 22. That quarantine is scheduled to end on August 4.

Since the beginning of June, Michigan State Athletics has conducted more than 800 COVID-19 tests on student-athletes and staff members. There have been a total of 651 tests on student-athletes, with 30 positive results. Since June 15, there have been more than 150 tests on staff members, at locations both on and off campus, with five positive results.
