Seth Trimble reveals big factor in his return to UNC

Seth Trimble opted to return to UNC after going into the transfer portal. But who helped bring him back?

One of the biggest off-season moves for North Carolina was the program being able to retain guard Seth Trimble. The junior opted to return for another season after entering the transfer portal.

His stay in the portal was short-lived as Trimble is back and gives UNC a much-needed piece in the backcourt. With Trimble back, he will be the primary backup guard to RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau, but will see a lot of minutes as he is arguably UNC’s best defender.

As we get ready for the upcoming season, Trimble met reporters on media day and revealed how he ended up back at UNC. And part of the credit goes to assistant coach Jeff Lebo.

“I was in Florida. I went to Florida as soon as I got into the transfer portal ,just to get away from here and take my mind off of everything,” Trimble said. “It kind of hit me when coach Lebo had called me. Me and Lebo talked four or five times when I was Florida. He had called me. I remember HD had talked to my dad and I talked to a couple of former players from here. It was after that night, it hit. That’s what I wanted to do was come back here.”

Trimble said he had schools interested in the portal. He had what he wanted in terms of a spot, money or whatever. But in the end, he wanted to stay at North Carolina because of how much he loves the university.

But getting those pitches from Lebo, Hubert Davis, and former players were also very important as well. And we are glad he made the decision to return.
