At the end of December, UNC basketball standout guard Seth Trimble was ruled out with an upper-body injury in the win over UCLA. He has been out since, missing the games against Campbell, Louisville, and Notre Dame.
Sean May filled in for Hubert Davis on his weekly radio show and discussed the timeline of Seth Trimble, including saying he would be back tonight.
Seth had to get healthy, and I think the smartest thing for him was to take the time that he needed to get healthy. We’re glad we’re going to have him back, no question. And we look for him to have a big game tomorrow, so we can come out on top with a win.
It is yet to be seen what the return of Trimble will do to the starting lineup. Elliot Cadeau and RJ Davis have been Tar Heel staples while Ian Jackson has come on late as the team’s go-to option.
I’d assume that Hubert Davis will revert back to his four-guard lineup with either Drake Powell or Jalen Washington at the five-spot alongside the four aforementioned guards. Trimble’s defensive ability is too good to leave on the bench. He was also the team’s leading rebounder at the time of his injury.
North Carolina will take on SMU tonight at the Dean Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in the team’s fourth ACC battle after starting 2-1 against conference opponents.
