While Complex’s Sneaker Shopping video series has welcomed a number of WWE superstars, past and present, it’s only right that Joe La Puma should spend some time with the man pushing fashion in wrestling to new frontiers, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.
The Visionary has a seemingly limitless supply of eye-popping looks to rock on WWE programming (thanks in large part to celebrity stylist King Troi), and while giving credit to women wrestlers for doing their thing for years, left no doubt about who he considered the most stylish male wrestler ever.
“Oh, number one, no question” Rollins said when asked that question by La Puma. “Now, three years ago, I might’ve had a different answer for you. I would have said something like I didn’t care. But I’m No. 1, man. I’m as good as it gets.
Rollins also discussed growing up in the sway of the Michael Jordan-era Chicago Bulls and trying to convince his grandparents to buy him Air Jordans, working with different shoe companies through his CrossFit connections, and his assertion that he could wrestle a whole match in MSCHF’s Big Red Boots (“They’re surprisingly functional”).
At the end of the show, Rollins ends up buying his first ever pair of Air Jordan 1s, the “Lost and Found” pair that caused a stir upon release last fall, as well as a handful of sneakers for wife Becky Lynch and their 2-year-old daughter, Roux.
While no one would ever accuse Rollins, especially in his current persona, of lacking the confidence to put himself over anyone in any comparison, even he admitted that when it comes to the shoe game, Lynch blows him away.
“Her show game blow mine out of the water,” Rollins said. “Her closet compared to mine … Her shoe closet’s crazy.”
Sounds like something Complex will want to investigate as soon as possible, because if it tops Rollins’ drip, it has to be truly spectacular.
