PHILADELPHIA–The basketball on the floor between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets did not exactly live up to the hype as the Nets were able to come away with a wire-to-wire 129-100 win over the Sixers. The game was never really close as Brooklyn led by as many as 36.
The big focus was the return of Ben Simmons as he made his return to Philadelphia for the first time since the trade and it was his first time inside the Wells Fargo Center since Game 7 of the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals. After a long summer of tumult and a trade request followed by a stalemate, the atmosphere was raucous for Simmons all night long.
After Brooklyn was able to pick up the win, Seth Curry, who played with Simmons in Philadelphia, and other Nets came to his defense.
