The Philadelphia 76ers made a trade on draft night back on Nov. 18 due to the fact that he can really shoot the ball. He shot 45.2% from deep in the 2019-20 season with the Dallas Mavericks and he is a career 44.3% shooter from deep. That is where he will hang his hat.

However, coach Doc Rivers has something else in store for Curry and that is to put the ball in his hands a lot more often.

This is something Curry has been waiting for throughout his career. He has been wanting to show people that he can do more than just shoot the ball and this will be his chance to do so.

“I think I’ve shown in the past,” Curry said. “I think Doc is saying that because he’s seen it on film over the past few years of me having an opportunity to make plays to the ball in my hands. Run a lot of pick and roll, a lot of handoffs, stuff like that.”

It would be very helpful for the Sixers to get back to the dribble hand-offs between Joel Embiid and a guy like Curry. Embiid ran a lot of dribble hand-off plays with JJ Redick in the past and the team was able to have success.

It will take time to get everything down, but Curry is willing to have the ball in his hands more often and get to work with the big fella and whatever the team asks of him.

“I like to make plays on the floor,” Curry finished. “I think that’s something that we need on this team as well so I’m looking forward to just doing whatever they asked me.”

Having him be able to make those types of plays will definitely be beneficial. The Sixers had a few needs entering this offseason and Curry fills both of them with his ability to shoot and his ability to put the ball on the floor.

When the season begins on Dec. 23, it will be interesting to see where Rivers will throw him out there and in which position. [lawrence-related id=39878,39874,39871]
