Series Preview: Softball – No. 21 Texas A&M vs No. 3 Tennessee

Aggies face a tough test this in the No. 3 Tennessee Vols coming to town

Coming off two midweek wins No. 21 Texas A&M (21-11) will have their toughest SEC foe yet in the No. 3 Tennessee Volunteers coming into town this weekend. At this point last year, the Aggies were 2-7 through three series in league play and only won a single series the whole season. That led to mainstay Jo Evan being let go and Trisha Ford being brought in to take the team in a different direction.  Not only did they replace their coach but also lost their top offensive weapon, Haley Lee, to the transfer portal.

This is usually a recipe for a lot of heartache and rebuilding. Coach Ford wasn’t trying to hear any of that and started out immediately drilling focus and accountability to her team. While the Aggies do have struggles from time to time there is never any quit in this team and they will fight to the bitter end.

Texas A&M is already playing a lot better in the league this year with a 4-5 conference record and winning two of the three series they have played this season. What makes this really impressive is the strength of the schedule and the amount of freshmen that are contributing to this solid start.

I don’t know how this weekend will turn out because Tennessee is a very good team, but I do know the Aggies are going to give it all they got.
