Student-athletes who participated in winter sports are reportedly unlikely to receive an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Several coaches around the sport began proposing the idea to grant seniors who played in winter sports an additional year of eligibility after the NCAA canceled the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Coaches like Geno Auriemma at UConn and Jim Boeheim at Syracuse were among those to express interest in the idea but it will apparently not come to fruition, based on the latest report by Rothstein.

In addition to the basketball tournaments, the NCAA also canceled all remaining winter and spring championships. Those athletes involved in spring sports will receive an additional year of eligibility since most of those activities started recently.
