Sega showcases revealing new Yakuza 8 trailer at Xbox Games Showcase

Sega and RGG finally showed a trailer for Yakuza 8, officially called Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, and revealed quite a bit – of Ichiban, that is. The trailer from the Xbox Games Showcase shows very little of the actual game, but it shows pretty much every part of Like A Dragon hero Ichiban, save for one small detail.

The Xbox trailer starts with Ichiban waking up alone and unclothed on a crowded beach. In true Ichiban fashion, he doesn’t realize what’s actually going on until he’s terrified a tourist woman, earned the approval of a surfer dude, and finally caused an older woman to take pity on him and let him know he’s in the buff.

It’s a fun, silly trailer, but the interesting thing is where Ichiban is, which is pretty plainly not Yokohama. The beach seems multicultural, perhaps someplace in the United States – Hawaii comes to mind – which would make it the first time RGG’s long-running action series has ventured outside Japan.

Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will release sometime in 2024 for Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Kiryu will show up as well, though how it ties in with Yakuza Gaiden, which launches later in 2023, remains to be seen.
