See where Auburn stands in USA Today’s new re-rank

Where do you think Auburn sits in the FBS?

With the season just around the corner, the time for talk is dying down — but it hasn’t died down quite yet.

USA Today’s Paul Myerberg re-ranks every team in the bowl subdivision every week, and this week’s ranking (subscription required) will be the final before college football officially begins with its patented “Week 0” games beginning this weekend. Myerberg ranked the Tigers No. 62 of 131 teams in the rankings, putting them one spot ahead of in-state team Troy and one spot below the Big Ten’s Maryland.

The Tigers land as the 11th-highest ranked SEC team on the list, above Missouri (64), South Carolina (73) and Vanderbilt (121). On the other end of the spectrum, Auburn’s two biggest rivals — Alabama and Georgia — both sit in the top three at first and third, respectively.

Head coach [autotag]Bryan Harsin[/autotag] certainly has a lot to prove in what could be a crucial second year and Tigers fans aren’t likely to be happy being the fourth-worst team in the conference, should Myerberg’s rankings end up holding weight. Auburn will have its first chance to prove any doubters wrong when it squares off against the Mercer Bears on Sept. 3 to open its season on home turf.
