Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk turned 52 years old on Tuesday, and he announced some tremendous news on Twitter. Activision will release a remade version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 in September for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The Tony Hawk series of games launched with the revolutionary first title in 1999, and the first two games in the series remain the most beloved by fans. THPS unfortunately lost its way around the Xbox 360/PS3 era, and more recently we’ve only seen the release of duds like Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, which was universally panned as an abomination.
It remains to be seen if this remake can capture the magic of those early titles, but the first footage from the game looks incredible.

Hawk confirmed in a tweet that the original roster of skaters will be included – meaning you’ll be able to play as legends like Bob Burnquist, Rune Glifberg and Bucky Lasek – and the iconic original soundtrack will be back.
