See the Brooklyn Nets’ latest playoff odds and title chances

The Brooklyn Nets’ title chances are slipping after a tough month.

The month of January hasn’t been easy for the Brooklyn Nets, and their title chances are slipping as a result.

To calculate the Nets’ current playoff odds and title chances, we averaged the latest projections from FiveThirtyEightBasketball Reference and ESPN’s BPI.

FiveThirtyEight, which uses its RAPTOR player ratings to forecast the rest of the season, was the most bullish on the Nets’ title chances, giving Brooklyn an eight percent shot at winning a championship. Basketball Reference, however, is giving the Nets just a 1.2 percent chance. Overall, the Nets have average title chances of 4.2 percent – which is worse than the Suns, Warriors, Jazz, Heat, Bucks, Nuggets, Cavaliers, 76ers or Grizzlies.

That number would have been much higher a month ago, prior to Kevin Durant’s MCL injury. The Nets have lost 11 of their last 17 games and have dropped to sixth placed in the tight Eastern Conference – but making the playoffs shouldn’t be an issue. The Nets have an 87.9 percent chance to make the postseason – but are facing an extremely tough road trip, with stops in Phoenix, Utah and Denver.
