One of the many things Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has been commended for throughout his career is his mental makeup.
It’s something that can’t be taught and is fully on display both on and off the football field.
And it was no different when Burrow discussed his first year with the Bengals on “The Herd” with Colin Cowherd.
In the interview, one subject Burrow touched on is the difference between a large lead in college and a large lead at the NFL level. In college matchups, it’s rare to see a team come back when its opponent hangs three touchdowns on them unanswered.

That’s not the case in the pros.
“In the NFL, you still have to keep your foot on the gas pedal because Philip Rivers is over there getting ready to score 24 (points) straight,” Burrow said.
From that point, Burrow really got into it, breaking down each piece of the play — to the point he apologized for getting so “technical.”
But for any football fan who likes to get deep into analysis and the X’s and O’s, bits like this are pure gold.

Here’s a look at the full interview:
Burrow was putting together a season with Rookie of the Year potential before he was sidelined by a severe knee injury he recently underwent reconstructive surgery for.
Burrow completed over 65% of his passes for 13 touchdowns with five interceptions before his year was cut short, and the hope is that he’ll be back with the team for Week 1 of the 2021 season.
