It was shocking news that came in the middle of Super Bowl Sunday: Pedro Gomez, who spent decades in his long sports journalism career at ESPN, died at the age of 58.
“Pedro was far more than a media personality. He was a Dad, loving husband, loyal friend, coach and mentor,” read a statement from the Gomez family. “He was our everything and his kids’ biggest believer. He died unexpectedly at home this afternoon.”
By so many of the accounts that poured in, he was so kind and generous, and the ESPN video tribute to Gomez said as much and more.
