Second Kobe Bryant statue will be unveiled on Friday

Get ready for another tribute to the life and legend of late Lakers great Kobe Bryant.

Earlier this year, a statue with the likeness of late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant was unveiled outside of Crypto.com Arena. It depicted Bryant acknowledging the crowd at the end of the 2006 game in which he scored an incredible 81 points against the Toronto Raptors.

At the time, it was announced that two other statues honoring Bryant would be produced and unveiled. The second of those statues will be unveiled on Friday, and it will show him with his daughter Gianni.

“A statue depicting Kobe Bryant and daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant will be unveiled in a private tented ceremony Friday outside of Crypto.com Arena, sources told ESPN,” wrote Dave McMenamin.

“… The statue of the father and daughter is located near the Los Angeles Kings’ monument celebrating the team’s 50th anniversary. It will be available for the public to visit starting Saturday morning, sources told ESPN.”

Both the elder and younger Bryant were tragically killed along with seven others in a helicopter accident in 2020. Many have said that of all the elder Bryant’s daughters, she was the one who took after him the most.

The elder Bryant’s third statue will be unveiled this coming season, and it will depict him wearing jersey No. 24, which he wore for the second half of his 20-year career.
