The LSU Tigers defeated the Ole Miss Rebels, 76-73, on Friday night in the SEC Tournament to advance to the semifinals on Saturday.
After going back and forth early in the game, the Tigers appeared to take control with around 12 minutes remaining in the first half. Junior forward Darius Days nailed a jumper and was fouled on the play. Days made the free throw and gave LSU a one-point lead.
The Tigers would lead by as many as seven points in the first half before going into halftime with a 29-27 lead.
LSU started the second half out with an 11-2 run to open up its first double-digit lead. Over the next five minutes, the Rebels would chip away and eventually took a 48-46 lead with 12:20 remaining in the game on a Luis Rodriguez layup.
LSU took back the lead around three minutes later when star freshman guard Cameron Thomas connected on a 3-point basket.
The teams went back and forth again until another Thomas 3-pointer gave the Tigers the lead for good.
Sophomore forward Trendon Watford had a big night for the Tigers, leading LSU with 24 points, shooting 11 of 14 from the field.
Days was the star of the night for the Tigers, scoring 20 points and leading the team with 12 rebounds. Days hit a clutch 3-point shot late to give LSU a two-score lead immediately after Ole Miss scored from downtown to cut the lead to one point.
The Tigers will face No. 2 Arkansas on Saturday. The two teams met two weeks ago in Fayetteville as the Razorbacks were victorious, 83-75.
