Auburn football misses out on being a part of the US LBM Coaches Poll for another week as the Tigers fell to rival No. 4 Georgia, 31-13, to drop their record to 2-4, 0-3 in SEC play.
However, the win over Auburn boosted Georgia to No. 4 after Alabama and Tennessee each suffered losses to unranked conference foes. The then-No. 2 Crimson Tide lost to Vanderbilt on the road, 40-35, thanks to Vanderbilt’s outstanding efforts of holding on to the football. The Commodores held the ball for a whopping 42:08 and outgained Alabama, 418-394. The Crimson Tide also committed two turnovers and were limited to 17 first downs. The loss sends Alabama to No. 7 in this week’s poll.
As for Tennessee, the previously ranked No. 4 Vols fell to an improved Arkansas Razorbacks squad, 19-14. According to ESPN, Tennessee had a 51% chance to win the game with 3:00 remaining, but an 11-yard touchdown run from Arkansas quarterback Malachi Singleton with 1:17 to go in the game lifted the Razorbacks to the win. Tennessee now stands at No. 9 ahead of their next game at home vs. Florida.
The biggest drop of all belongs to Missouri, who fell nine spots to No. 18 after losing 41-10 to then-No. 21 Texas A&M in College Station. Texas A&M took advantage of the win by rising seven places to No. 14.
