With the feeling of momentum starting to shift back into Texas A&M, head coach Mike Elko went to redshirt freshman Marcel Reed. On his first play of the game, he scored on a run option that electrified Kyle Field. They would outscore LSU 31-6 in the second half with Reed accounting for three touchdowns.
The SEC recognized the freshman’s production after the big week by naming him SEC Player of the Week. Below is the excerpt from the release from the conference officials:
Marcel Reed ignited the Aggies’ offense in their comeback win against LSU. After entering in the third quarter, Reed immediately scored with an 8-yard touchdown run and followed with two more drives, each capped by rushing touchdowns. He finished with three rushing touchdowns and went 2-for-2 passing for 70 yards, including a 54-yard strike. His play sparked a 21-point surge, helping Texas A&M overcome a halftime deficit and secure victory.
