The Texas A&M softball team is coming off a big weekend where they beat the No 7 Arkansas Razorbacks in the final two games to clinch the opening series in league play. The 5’5″ freshman Riley Valentine has been on fire this season and was recognized as SEC Co-Freshman of the week.
She currently leads the team in home runs (5), RBI (16), and SLG% (.750), but what earned her freshman of the week was the standout performance again the Arkansas Razorbacks last weekend. Conference play is where the games become way more important and can be a little more stressful, but the opening series against the former SEC champs did not phase Valentine one bit.
After not playing the first game of the series, Coach Ford placed her in the lineup for the final two games who awarded the team with some efficient at-bats. Over the course of the two games, she hit a solo home run, hit a double, two RBIs, and a .600 batting average.
This is just the beginning of what looks like a very promising career. Check out the social media acknowledgment and homerun highlight below.
