SEC names Aggie freshman Jace LaViolette as Player of the Week

SEC names Jace LaViolette Player of the Week after big weekend against the Mississippi State Bulldogs

Jace LaViolette adds another weekly honor to his resume. The SEC recognized the production of the freshman in the final week of the regular season by naming him SEC Player of the Week.

Below is the excerpt from the release from the SEC officials

Jace LaViolette hit three home runs on Friday and added a pair of hits on Saturday to help the Aggies win a series at Mississippi State. His third home run on Friday came with one out in the ninth inning with the Aggies down 4-3, surging them ahead for the win to even the series. LaViolette was walked four times in the series opener, including twice intentionally. He reached base four times in the finale. He now has 18 home runs for the year, setting a new freshman single-season home run record and breaking the record set by John Byington in 1987.

LaViolette was seen as one of the top prospects coming into college baseball this year and his season rounded out nicely becoming one of the most feared batters in the lineup.

Congrats to Jace and it’s well deserved!!
