There is no doubt the reality of COVID-19 and college football is finally here.
The Big 10 and Pac-12 have canceled its fall seasons with hopes of pushing to the spring. Now, the wait is on for final decisions from the Big 12, SEC and ACC.
The SEC and ACC have been steadfast the last 48 hours that they will push on with the idea of playing this fall. The Big 12, though, is reportedly split in its decision heading into a Tuesday night meeting.
The SEC and ACC are needing the Big 12 to hang on, and both conferences have told reporters as such.
Two SEC sources just told me the same thing seconds apart: “We need the Big 12 to stay committed.”

Sources also tell @ByPatForde and I that ACC presidents have been in constant communication with counterparts in the Big 12 to gauge their plans.
If the Big 12 were to join the Pac-12 and Big Ten in canceling a 2020 fall season, the ACC would feel compelled to do the same.

If not, then it won’t make much sense for the ACC and SEC to move on with a fall football season and the entire college football landscape will be pushed to the spring.
The Big 12 is scheduled to meet with its school presidents and board of directors on Tuesday night.
