The 2023 Auburn Softball season begins in less than ten days, which means it is a perfect time to break down this season’s roster.
Auburn Wire’s first softball preview of the season will take a look at the top returning hitters from last season’s squad. Auburn finished last season with a 40-17 record, which is the most wins that the program has accumulated since the 2019 season. Auburn also won its first NCAA Regional game since the 2019 season when they defeated Louisiana, 4-3 in the opening game of the Clemson Regional.
The Tigers’ success was due in part to solid pitching, but also due to strong plate presence. As a team, Auburn hit .299 and built a slugging percentage of .557.
Auburn’s lineup also totaled 86 home runs. The most important detail of that stat is that this season’s roster was responsible for 82 of those long balls.
Which key players return to this season’s lineup? Here is a look at Auburn’s top returning hitters based on last season’s final batting average.
