[autotag]Joseph Benavidez[/autotag] fell short once again in his opportunity to claim a major title on Saturday when he lost to Deiveson Figueiredo in the UFC on ESPN+ 27 main event.
Benavidez (28-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC) succumbed to a second-round TKO against Figueiredo (18-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) in the headlining contest, which took place at Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Va. It was a title fight for Benavidez only, because his opponent missed weight by 2.5 pounds.
With the loss, Benavidez fell to 0-3 in UFC title fights and at 35, could be in a serious decision point going forward.
