Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton and rookie quarterback Bo Nix had a heated sideline discussion during the team’s 34-18 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday afternoon.
After the game, Payton said Nix has “a little bit of Ferris Bueller” in him, referencing the 1986 comedy starring Matthew Broderick.
Nix took that remark in stride and posted a funny highlight video on his Instagram page on Tuesday featuring one of the movie’s famous lines: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
Payton was asked about the video after Wednesday’s practice.
“It was outstanding,” Payton said. “He had to look up the freakin’ movie. It was outstanding. I think I ‘liked’ it — if that’s what the heart [button] means.
“He’s got a good sense of humor. And I think he had to have some help [to make the video]. He had to have some help. We’ll figure out who.”
Nix admitted that he did not make the video himself.
“I definitely didn’t do it. I’m not talented like that,” Nix said. “I just thought it was perfect timing to kind of use the game on Sunday and just have some fun with it.”
Payton said he called Nix “Ferris Bueller” at Wednesday’s practice and the quarterback responded by calling him “Dennis The Menace,” a nickname that was given to Payton by former coach Bill Parcells.

Nix said his teammates also appreciated the video.
“The guys liked the video, and they gave me a hard time about it,” the QB said. “I think it’s just kind of part of the game that you can have some fun with. Kind of just bring smiles and laughter.”
“Bo is doing it the correct way,” wide receiver Courtland Sutton said after practice. “That’s my thought. He’s hilarious, man.”
In case you missed Nix’s video:
🤣 Epic IG Post by Bo Nix. Too funny! I'm really liking the healthy back and forth between HC and QB. I'm hoping a good harbinger for Chargers Game. Go Broncos! @Broncos #BroncosCountry pic.twitter.com/zIfKNZ7uOT
