Sean McVay unsure if Stetson Bennett will be with Rams in 2024

Stetson Bennett missed his entire rookie season and it’s not certain he’ll be back with the Rams in 2024, though he is “doing better”

The Los Angeles Rams drafted Stetson Bennett in the fourth round last year but he wasn’t active for a single game during his rookie season. It’s not because he was hurt, either.

Bennett spent the year on the non-football illness list for undisclosed reasons, causing the Rams to cycle through multiple backup quarterbacks behind Matthew Stafford. His absence could continue into 2024, too, Sean McVay says.

McVay told reporters on Wednesday that he’s unsure if Bennett will be with the team next season, saying it’s “a conversation for another time.” He did say Bennett is doing better but didn’t give any further details about his condition or situation.

The Rams still have not said what caused Bennett to miss his entire rookie season for non-football reasons. His only public appearance was at a Georgia football game in November where he was on the sidelines with other former Bulldogs.

When Bennett was first placed on the NFI list, McVay said it was something “bigger and more important” than football, requesting no further questions on the matter back in September.

Bennett was drafted by the Rams 128th overall in the fourth round out of Georgia.
